Ooh La La Bridal Shower

Last week the day finally came and I had the opportunity to throw a bridal shower for my Best Girl Friend Kelly! She will be getting married in May, but school gets out at the end of the week and she will be going back to Arizona to finish the planning and see her fiance.

The theme was Ooh La La a little classy and a little risque.

I had a blast putting this together.  With the help of her roommates we were able to make her smile and make her blush for a very memorable party!

these are a few of the printables I designed for the shower.

French Macarons with a chocolate Ganache.

Strawberry cream pie shots

I got Lingerie from the thrift store to help spice things up a little.
I wanted it to look like the close line from the invite and I think it turned out very cute!

Kelly's favorite food of all time is pretzels ( I just realized it is spelled wrong... go figure) so I made homemade pretzels and they were delicious!

For recipes and where I got a lot of the products go here.

It was you can tell it was a bridal shower.
She was BRIGHT red by the end of it!!

Congrats Miss (soon to be Mrs.) Kelly!

Party on!!

Pinterest... my addiction

Have any of you ever heard of a TED talk? basically TED is a website where presenters can post presentations about anything they are passionate about.  There are some really interesting topics and I suggest if you have never been to ted.com to check it out.

I am in a professional presentations class and we had to to a TED talk.  So basically if you could stand on your soap box for 8-12 minutes what would you want to the world to know.  My love and passion right now is Pinterest.  I believe, from the research I have done that Pinterest is the next big thing in social media.

Pinterest is bringing more referrals to blogs and websites than YouTube, LinkedIn and Google + combined and is quickly surpassing Twitter as well.  Pinterest is not just a place to dream about the things you cannot have or the will get to in the future, but it is a place for people to got out and do.  I know so many people who are constantly creating new projects, making new recipes and getting great ideas from pinterest.

How many of you have actually done something you have pinned on Pinterest?  I know I have.  I make a new recipe or do a new craft at least once a week.  I get ideas to help my creative juices when planning an event or party.  Although Pinterest has not been around very long, just about a year, I believe it is the way of the future.

So... If you have not joined Pinterest or are still waiting for your invite let me know by commenting here and I would be glad to send you an invite.

I would say that I am a Pinterest addict and I don't plan on getting better any time soon.

Tag You're It! A little about ME!

I don't usually do things like this, but I'll be honest I have never really been asked to do anything like  this so I thought I would participate.  My friend Paige from http://www.paigeandbenjamin.blogspot.com tagged me to answer 11 questions.  I thought I would do it so those few people who read my blog can know a little more about me.

Here are the rules:
1. Post these rules.
2. Post a photo.
3. Post 11 random things about yourself/ answer the questions
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them

My husband and I love to go on adventures.
This picture was taken after we hiked "R" mountain and then played at a flooded park.
This is not the best picture of my, but It shows who we are.
We are hard workers and hard players.
We love love to have a good time
Random about me:
I live going to school and taking fun classes, I would be in school forever if I could.
I give too much of myself and always end up hurt, but at least I love.
I am taking a baking class and LOVE it!
My husband and I were engaged for 16 months (for a Mormon girl that is like eternity!)
I am obsessed with pink and green and if I could I would decorate my whole house pink and green.
If I could sew, cook and craft all day long I would.
I want a baby, but I love just babysitting and giving the baby back when they cry or are stinky.
I love to steal other's ideas and making my own.
My husband and I are obsessed with How I Met Your Mother.
I was born in the wrong century.  I should have been in the century when women wear big poofy  dresses.  I love dresses.  I would wear them everyday if it wasn't so stinkin' cold in Rexburg.
I was told once I am a craft supplies hoarder.

1. What's your favorite recipe? {and please share if it's that good!}
My favorite recipe... really anything that is tasty or that is covered in chocolate, but today because I made super yummy lime honey chicken kebobs last night I will say this is my favorite recipe (today)!
2. What's one career that always seemed super awesome, but not 'practical', that you've always wanted?
Well, the career I am going into is super awesome because it incorporates everything I love.  I want to me a professional party planner which includes, cooking, sewing, crafts, floral arranging, graohic design and creativity.
3. If you could trade places with someone, who would it be and why?
I have a couple friends that are going to school at BYU-Hawaii and right now I would love to be there  going to school.  Idaho is nice, but I am sick of the cold weather and ready to get my swim suit on a relax!

I would love to go to a Rascle Flats concert!

Best burger... well to be honest I would say 5 Guys and Fries or In-n-Out.  I love me a good fast food burger and fresh fries!
7. What's the coolest little-known thing about you?
coolest little-known thing about me... I was on slime time live on Nickelodeon.  I played sponge-but-wet-pants when I was 10 years old!
8. What question do you wish I had asked? And answer it!
My dream party is to have a tea party with my friends, dress up in fancy clothes and have a gourmet meal.
9. What talents do you have?
I love to cook, sew, design and of course plan parties!
10. How many cool places have you traveled to, and what's the best one?
I have been to Scotland, England, Ireland and France.  The best one was England.  I want to go back to the lake district and have tea time.
11. Describe the one person you cannot live without.
I cannot live without my husband.  He is the only person who completely believes me and supports me in all of my dreams and aspirations.  I love him and would die without him by my side.

Questions to answer:
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
why to you blog? The REAL reason.
What is your favorite recipe?
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?
what is your favorite talent you have?
who is your favorite TV character? why?
what is your most embarrassing moment?
who is the one person you cannot live without?
If you could throw any party what would you throw?

Bridal Shower Inspiration boards

The bridal shower is fast approaching.  I want to make this party extra special for my best friend.  I have spent many hours researching the best food to serve at the party.

When planning a party it is extra important to chose the time of the party with caution.  The food you want to serve and the amount of food you will need to provide depends a great deal with the party time.   If you throw a party between 11 and 1 pm or 5 and 6 pm your party guests will most likely come hungry and expect a full meal or eat quite a bit.  Remember to budget for that and plan for hungry guests.  A party between 1 and 4 pm or 7 pm and later you will only need to have finger foods.  My worst fear as a party planner is to run out of food.  Plan your food wisely and DO NOT RUN OUT!

We are doing this bridal shower at 3pm on a Saturday.  This is a good time to plan a bridal shower because you don't have to serve a lot of food and most people won't have other plans or can at least stop by for a short time.

One of my friend's favorite snack are mall pretzels.  I felt it was necessary to have pretzels at her party.  I have never made them before, how hard can it be? Last year I bought a ton of shot glasses for her birthday party and thought it would be fun to have mini shot glass desserts.  As for the cupcakes, what is a party without cupcakes, especially chocolate ones?  You can't get a bunch of girls together without chocolate!

Here are all the recipes I will be using for the food:

As for the decorations, it is harder to find decorations that are cheap, but look nice and will make a plain room look like a party.  It is amazing how the simplest party decorations like tissue paper, streamers and balloons can look really nice if you do it right.  I am excited to see how a touch of playfulness and elegance put together can make a simple party look really great.

I am also really excited to use the polka dot straws and the mason jars to use for the drinks.

Its going to be the cutest little bridal shower in the whole town!

I hope she likes it and the party turns out just as she dreams.  I want it to be perfect with her!

Party On!
